How to Fix 3D Print Warping
Corners or edges of the print curling upward and detaching from the bed as the plastic cools and contracts unevenly.
Common causes
Bed temperature too low for the material
ABS and ASA are especially prone to warping without enough heat to keep the base of the print soft as it cools.
Drafts or uneven cooling
Air currents from a room fan, AC vent, or an open window cool one side of the print faster than the other.
Weak first-layer adhesion
If the first layer isn't well anchored, the contracting plastic has nothing to hold it down.
Large flat shapes with sharp corners
Thermal stress concentrates at corners, which is why warping almost always starts there first.
How to fix it
Increase bed temperature
Match your slicer's bed temp to the material spec — roughly 100-110°C for ABS/ASA, 70-80°C for PETG, 60°C for PLA.
Use an enclosure or draft shield
Keeping ambient air warm and still around the print is close to mandatory for ABS/ASA on an open-frame printer.
Add a brim
A wide brim gives the print more surface area anchored to the bed, directly resisting corner lift.
Use an adhesion aid suited to the material
Glue stick or hairspray for PLA, a PEI sheet or dedicated adhesive for ABS/PETG.
Slow down and widen the first layer
A slower first layer with a slightly wider extrusion width improves bed contact and adhesion.
