Creality K1: Most Common Problems & Fixes
The K1's speed and enclosed design bring a few failure modes that don't show up on open-frame printers, alongside some inconsistency in early production units.
Inconsistent stock build plate adhesion
Adhesion quality has varied across production runs. Clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol (soap and water if needed), live-tune Z-offset during the first layer, and consider a textured PEI plate if the stock surface keeps underperforming.

The tool-less hotend swap design is convenient but the heater/thermistor connection can loosen if not seated firmly. Reseat the hotend fully and confirm the connector clicks into place.
Under-extrusion on long PLA prints
The enclosed chamber traps heat, and on long PLA prints the filament can soften early in the heat break above the hotend, gradually reducing flow. Crack the front door open for PLA prints over an hour, or remove the top cover for tall prints.

Usually points to a loose or failing thermistor. Power off immediately — this is flagged as a fire-safety condition, not just a print-quality one — then check the thermistor connection before resuming.
Extruder gear slipping on early units
Some early K1 units shipped with an extruder prone to slipping during fast retractions. Confirm you have the later "V2" extruder with polished gears, and reduce retraction speed if grinding occurs.
