Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro: Most Common Problems & Fixes

Running Klipper gives the Neptune 4 Pro tuning options a lot of printers don't have — which also means the biggest wins here come from software, not hardware.

  • Stringing on the direct-drive setup

Direct-drive needs a different approach than Bowden — short, careful retraction rather than long pulls. Since this printer runs Klipper, dialing in pressure advance is the single highest-value fix: it reduces nozzle pressure at the end of print moves and directly cuts stringing.

  • Extruder crashing into the print

Happens when the print head is pushed too fast on one or more axes — max Z speed in particular isn't always adjustable by default in some slicer profiles. Check and lower the max Z speed setting in your slicer.

  • Temperature stuck at 0 / preheat failures

Reported with certain model files. Check the thermistor connection first, and try re-slicing from a clean printer profile if one specific model consistently triggers it.

  • 3MF files from Printables not slicing correctly

Some files are exported from Bambu Studio using custom 3MF extensions that this printer's usual slicer doesn't recognize. Switch to a compatible slicer like Orca Slicer, or re-export the model directly.
