Bambu Lab P1S: Most Common Problems & Fixes

The P1S's enclosed chamber is a real advantage for ABS/ASA, but it's also the direct cause of its most common failure mode.

  • AMS "failed to retract filament" errors

    Happens as PTFE tubes age or filament goes slightly out of spec — the AMS's small motor can't generate enough pull if there's added resistance. Replace worn tubes and check the spool isn't binding or tangled.

  • Heat-creep clogs in warm conditions

    The enclosed chamber is great for ABS/ASA but traps heat — when interior temperature exceeds roughly 35-40°C, PLA especially can soften early in the heat break and jam as a compressed "pancake" the extruder can neither push nor pull. Crack the door open for long PLA prints, or treat PLA as a lower-chamber-temp material on this printer.

  • Auto-leveling thrown off by debris

    The force-sensor leveling system is precise enough that even a stray 0.2mm strand of purged filament under the plate can tilt the reading. Keep the plate and sensors clean immediately before leveling.

  • Large prints need a thermal soak first

    The bed's center can reach target temperature well before the corners have fully expanded. Let the bed sit at temperature for 10-15 minutes before starting large, flat prints.
